For our video, we decided to base it on a situation that unfortunately has occurred to a lot of people. The topic of our video is the corruption that often occurs in work environments of many office jobs, and how the iron law of oligarchy is still present in our society. The inner circle in our video consists of Tiffany (the boss), and the people that follow her or the workers, which are Jeayun and Sara. The boss, with her absolute power, has made the lives of both Jeayun and Sara, miserable; however, as she absolutely complains about everything, Jeayun has given up completely in trying to reason with her. Then, when Jeayun was sick for a few days, the boss complained, and Sara explained the situation to her, nonetheless, the Boss continued on ranting. Through this we can show how manipulative and hostile the environment has become for the workers; this can also be interpreted as alienation surging in the environment. Later on, the boss even decides to fire Jeayun, and place her best friend Anielka. This immediate decision can be seen as an event of the iron law of oligarchy, as Tiffany appointed someone close instead of someone who actually deserved it. This might seem a bit overdramatic, and to some extent, it is, however, the fact that there are still organizations in which events such as this one occur, is something that has to change, and until it does, there will be a constant cycle of hatred, annoyance, and helplessness.
